New FAIRTRADE fund for producer organizations

Small-scale producer in Latin America and the Caribbean have faced two crises in 2020: the one generated by the COVID-19 pandemic and the impacts of climate change.

As a response to this situation, the Latin American and Caribbean Network of Fairtrade Small Producers and Workers (CLAC - FAIRTRADE) has created the Fund for Climate Eventualities and Catastrophic Events to support organizations in the implementation of preventive measures to avoid further damage due to climate change or to provide timely relief support after catastrophic situations. The fund for Catastrophic Events is a partial compensation instrument for a loss of more than 30% of the production of a crop, associated with some phenomenon of aggravated climatic intensity. In this case, CLAC will provide up to 6,000 US-Dollars, which will be non-refundable.
